We are bringing 800 new jobs to Huntsville, Alabama and building a state-of-the art advanced manufacturing facility where we will produce our industry-leading solid propulsion systems and our next-generation rocket engine. Our efforts to build on our existing presence in Huntsville are in full swing and we are looking for Aero Thermal Fluids Engineers to conduct thermal analysis primarily for solid propulsion systems and components. Typical duties:
Perform engineering thermal analysis primarily for solid propulsion systems and components using in-house or non-proprietary thermal ablation analysis tools or commercial software tools such as ANSYS or CHAR. Typical responsibilities include the planning and cost estimating for the thermal analysis tasks, coordinate thermal analysis efforts with chief engineer and IPT team members, pre-test predictions and post-test analysis of test data to validate component and system analysis models. Coordinate the implementation of thermal solutions for propulsion applications with the design engineers, structural analysts, and manufacturing engineers in a multi-discipline project team.
Design and support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Develop test systems and strategies, specify instrumentation and analyze test results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews; design reviews, peer reviews, problem solving meetings and customer technical interchange meetings.
Produce thermal analysis reports and make presentation of analysis results to both internal and external customers. Provide technical guidance to junior thermal analysts.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline) and at least 5 years directly applicable technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in team leadership is required.
Candidate must be proficient in using thermal analysis tools in thermal ablation analysis of solid rocket propulsion.
Master's or higher degree preferred.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. US Citizenship only required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.
