The Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences (EES) in the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida, one of the leading US institutions in the area of sustainable materials management, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at Ast/Aso/Full Professor levels. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of science or engineering. We seek creative, highly productive engineers and scientists who have demonstrated innovative research in their field of study, who will collaborate with current faculty in the field of sustainable materials management to make significant advancements in reduction, resource and energy extraction, recycling and beneficial reuse, and sustainable disposal of domestic solid waste streams and industrial byproducts.
Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in the following areas: 1) technologies for automated materials identification/separation and resource extraction, 2) innovative processes for recycling and beneficial use of waste materials, 3) design and evaluation tools for characterizing sustainable materials management systems of the future. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in and record of interdisciplinary research that aligns with the mission of the University of Florida’s Sustainable Materials Management Group. Research approaches can include theoretical, numerical, or experimental methods. The successful candidates will be expected to build a strong externally funded research program; provide professional service; teach and develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; and develop research collaborations and synergistic activities with other faculty members of EES, ESSIE, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, and the University of Florida.
