Conduct product quality and system audits, including the inspection, sampling and test witnessing of manufactured engineered wood products for conformance to product standards and APA certification policies.
Conduct all business with the goal of assuring personal and co-worker safety. Understand, comply with and contribute to the development and improvement of safety procedures for APA and APA member mills.
Conduct audits of mill production quality procedures and provide both written and oral reports of findings.
Perform product verification, consistency, approval and qualification tests. Select and prepare samples for lab testing.
Provide or assist with training and on-going assessment of mill personnel.
Maintain a professional relationship and communicate effectively with mill management, supervisors and quality personnel.
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or manufacturing field or 5 years technical experience in wood products manufacturing.
ASQ CQA or ISO Lead Auditor certification preferred. ASQ CQA certification will be expected after employment.
Functional knowledge of engineered wood products such as plywood, OSB, glulam, LVL and I-joist products preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and be able to travel on a routine basis, including overnight, throughout North America.
Must be able to assist in lifting/moving up to 100 lbs/(45 kgs) on a repetitive basis.
Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
