Michael Baker International is looking for a well-rounded Traffic Engineer. This position will be a key member of our Traffic Engineering team in our Moon Township (Pittsburgh), PA office. The successful candidate should have experience with work zone traffic control, signing, pavement marking, traffic signal plans, intelligent transportation systems and connected vehicle and emerging transportation technologies. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to lead/manage the preparation of engineering plans, reports, technical specifications, perform highway capacity analysis and prepare construction estimates and schedules. Depending on your experience, you may have the opportunity to instruct and guide less experienced engineers in developing engineering reports and analyses. The Traffic Engineer will utilize their knowledge and skills to support our project teams in delivery of projects through planning and design.
Prepare design plans, construction documents, specifications, and construction estimates
Prepare traffic engineering reports
Conduct microsimulation traffic analyses on intersections and roadway networks using transportation planning/engineering software
Professionally represent Michael Baker International at technical meetings with agency staff, clients, and contractors
Support the preparation of technical proposals and conducting business development activities
Work on exciting and challenging transportation projects in Western PA and throughout the country

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
8+ years of progressive traffic engineering design and operational experience
Pennsylvania P.E. license; PTOE certification is highly desirable
Proficient computer skills in MicroStation and in traffic operations software Synchro and HCS; experience with VISSIM is desirable
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Attention to detail, effective decision making, and organizational skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines and manage staff
Ability to work independently and within a team setting to support project delivery
Availability to occasionally travel to other local offices
