The Challenge: As a key member of the Tomah Plant Leadership Team, the Quality Manager will be expected to manage all elements of the Quality Management System and Food Safety Management System. These elements include daily review and response to all external and internal non-conformities. This role will also be required to work closely with all departments within the facility to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. You will also be expected to lead elements of the continual improvement process as relates to the TC Transcontinental Performance System.
The Quality Manager position requires effective decision-making, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with focus not only on customer requirements but on the company’s interests as well, and the ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with team members.
The Opportunity: The Quality Manager is an integral member of the plant Leadership Team and is responsible for high level service to all TC Transcontinental internal and external customers. This person must be highly professional with strong communication, leadership, analytical and technical skills with extensive manufacturing experience. TC Transcontinental is currently looking for a candidate that can lead our Quality team in the following areas:
Treating all internal and external customers with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Leading and developing the Quality Assurance Inspectors and Quality Technicians to be successful in their individual roles.
Providing support and statistical expertise to the Quality Assurance team.
Assuring safety, quality and productivity to achieve positive results.
Developing continuous improvement methods to identify opportunities in the Quality Assurance process.
Analyzing the statistical data.
Monitoring and evaluating supplier performance to quality performance requirements.
Ensuring the quality and food safety system meets the expectations of our customers and SQF Level 3 Standards.
Complying with all safety policies and procedures within the facility.
Administer the Customer Complaint process which includes serving as the main contact for Customers and liaison between plants and departments.
Bachelor’s degree - Packaging Engineering or related preferred.
Five plus years of work experience in a manufacturing Quality leadership role
Possess working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma improvement methodology
Food Safety experience - ability to serve as back up to Food Safety Practitioner
Possess good leadership, communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and handle a wide variety of responsibilities
Change agent and champion of continuous improvement processes
Willingness to Travel - must be able to visit customers and suppliers as needed
Fundamental understanding of quality philosophes, SPC, and inspection and control methods
Must have ability to operate PC-based statistical software. (Microsoft Office, Minitab, Infinity QS etc.)
Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required
ASQ Certifications, Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Certification a plus
