Position Description

The QA Supervisor is the primary back-up to the QA Manager and will directly supervise and coordinate the activities within the lab to ensure the quality of product is consistent with Company expectations and customer requirements.


  • Oversee raw material, in process, finished goods and environmental sampling and sample preparation for testing.
  • Implement and perform internal plant audits.
  • Maintain and perform product recall procedures (coordinate product recalls).
  • Oversee production lab operations (testing raw material, work-in-process, finished products).
  • Review compliance of milk screening for antibiotics and DMC as per state regulations.
  • Report out of limits results to QA manager.
  • Oversee documentation of production records.
  • Evaluate and release product (whey and cheese per customer spec).
  • Assist with regulatory, plant inspections, regulatory sampling, and documentation.
  • Oversee milk receiving lab including compliance and all licensing of new employees.
  • Support the execution of the Food Safety Plan.
  • Conduct HACCP training for operators performing CCP responsibilities.
  • Complete routine and reoccurring customer questionnaires and documentation requests to include documentation for export orders.
  • Review and disposition product returns.
  • Support the QA Manager in complaint investigations and follow-up.
  • Track and trend items concerning product holds, CCP/QCP deviations, finished product inspections, sanitation documentation and product retains for the shelf-life programs.
  • Review of CofA’s to include random incoming raw material inspection/testing for the CofA accuracy.
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

    Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality or related field or commensurate experience.
  • 1 year of lab management experience or more.
  • In depth understanding of chemical and physical processes relating to cheese and packaging quality.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
  • Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
  • Ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to lab technicians, as well as other personnel.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond the routine issues.
  • Specialized SQF training.
  • Availability to work after normal working hours.

    Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 3 years of management experience or more.
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience with Dairy, Cheese, and Aseptic Technique.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze and trend both internal and external data.

    Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a lab setting.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
  • Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
  • Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
  • Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 75-100 degrees F.
