Supports transportation modeling staff to conduct in-house sub-area analyses associated with the transportation/traffic impact of larger developments and area studies. Provides support on multimodal transportation studies. Conducts analyses of the cumulative transportation impacts of developments. Provides, where appropriate, a review of outside transportation/traffic impact studies, using the county travel demand or regional modeling results. Conducts sub-area analyses by coordinating and/or making changes to the county transportation network and zonal system, running the necessary components of the county model to produce traffic assignments, evaluating the ability of the transportation network to accommodate trips in and around a sub-area, and making recommendations on deficiencies and appropriate remedial measures. Provides planning/analytical support on multimodal transportation studies. Analyzes transportation systems using techniques such as select link and zone analysis. Conducts and reviews traffic operations studies. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field; plus two years of professional experience in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in planning or related field. Background in transportation and land use planning. Ideal candidate will have: strong computer skills and proficiency; experience in geographic information systems (GIS) and transportation planning software packages, hands on experience in the use of travel forecasting software (such as Cube/Voyager, Visum, Emme, TransCAD); and experience in the use of microsimulation and analysis software (such as Vissim, DynusT, Dynameq, Synchro, etc.); strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to maintain and foster positive working relationships, and effective time management and organizational skills.
