To fill immediate vacancy and establish an eligibility list. Reporting to the City Engineer and under limited supervision, manages and performs the development review function in the Engineering Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Meets with developers and City staff from Engineering, Planning, Building, and Fire to review proposed private development projects.
Oversees and reviews preliminary drainage studies, traffic studies, water, and sewer feasibility studies.
Writes Conditions of Approval for Planning Commission review of site plans, parcel maps, tract maps and other development approvals.
Coordinates activities with other City departments, City divisions or external agencies.
Oversees and performs map and infrastructure improvement plan review, including but not limited to tentative and final maps.
Ensures all security for all public improvements are in place.
Oversees and performs plan checks of storm water pollution prevention plans and final drainage studies.
Manages and coordinates construction and utility permits.
Assists in resolving problems regarding field issues during construction of infrastructure for private development projects.
Attends various internal and external meetings regarding engineering topics or issues, including Planning Commission meetings.
Supervise subordinate staff, set work priorities, create work schedules, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and reward and/or disciplines employees.
Manage staff by planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the work and activities of subordinates

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; AND five years professional municipal engineering experience INCLUDING one year of supervisory or two years of project management experience.
Licences and Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid California Class “C” driver’s license upon hire and maintain throughout the length of employment with the City of Victorville.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer issued by the California Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Additional Salary Information: ($8,471 - $10,297 PER MONTH
