The Board of Directors of North Star Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified and engaged leader to succeed the current General Manager (GM) who will retire December 31, 2020. North Star has retained NRECA’s Executive Search Group to facilitate the search process.
North Star Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative that provides reliable and affordable electricity to its residential, business, seasonal and farm members in all or portions of Lake of the Woods, Koochiching, Roseau, and St. Louis counties in Minnesota. North Star receives wholesale power from Minnkota Power Cooperative and has an annual revenue of $15 million.
As a Touchstone Energy Partner, North Star’s 21 employees take pride in the personal service that they offer to its 5,400 members and their 6,500 services.
Successful GM candidates will have the ability to lead and manage risk, be forward-thinking, have high integrity, possess excellent relationship building and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to achieve results. Candidates are required to have, at a minimum, 5-10 years at an electric utility with a minimum of 5 years of experience at the senior management level. Cooperative experience is preferred. In addition, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting and finance, or relevant degree is preferred.
North Star Electric Cooperative is headquartered in Baudette, MN, located in North-Central Minnesota adjacent to the Canadian border. This community is famous for its fishing, hunting, and camping on the beautiful Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake.
