Research Soil Scientist/Agricultural Engineer/Hydrologist
The USDA, ARS, Cropping Systems and Water Quality Research Unit (CSWQRU), Midwest Area, Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Research Soil Scientist/Agricultural Engineer/Hydrologist. The CSWQRU mission is to develop knowledge and provide technological solutions to optimize agricultural production systems at the sub-field to watershed scale, for both economic and environmental sustainability. The successful applicant will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists conducting basic and applied research to assess, develop, and improve agricultural management systems. Specifically, they will apply advanced instrumentation (e.g., eddy covariance systems) and analysis techniques (e.g., machine learning) to understand flows of water, nutrients, and energy within agroecosystems and use that knowledge to contribute to solving critical problems in agricultural productivity, sustainability, and environmental quality.
