As the Director of Transportation, we invite you, as a key contributor, to embrace our strategic plan and in particular, co-lead the implementation of one of our key strategic directions: A City that Moves.
This is an exciting time for the City of Burlington. Council has finalized the strategic plan which will not only guide our actions for the next five years but will also provide a vision to 2040. At a high level our transportation vision includes increased transportation flows and connectivity. People and goods will move throughout the city more efficiently and safely. A variety of convenient, affordable and green forms of transportation that align with regional patterns will be developed. Walkability within new and transitioning neighbourhoods and the downtown will be a reality.
If you are interested in playing a significant role in this vision please consider this opportunity. The Transportation Services Department reports directly to our Executive Director of the Community Planning Regulation and Mobility service area that implements two strategic directions, A City that Grows and A City that Moves. The core services of the Transportation Services Department include transportation planning, traffic services, traffic signals, parking operations, city-wide parking by-law enforcement, street lighting and our school crossing guards.
Working with Council and the senior management team you are a strategic and visionary leader who will guide the development and implementation of the Integrated Mobility Plan to support our strategic plan. Your vision will include the Major Transit Station Areas and a complete street vision implemented through a coordinated active transportation plan. You have a proven ability to work with all levels of government, developing creative solutions and a seamless transportation experience.
Your resume includes graduation from a Civil Engineering Program with registration in P.E.O. Alternatively you may have a College Diploma in Transportation Technology and registration in OACETT. You will have at least five (5) years of senior management experience guiding and developing staff, proven public consultation skills and are able to expertly communicate with many types of audiences.
An understanding of municipal finance and planning is an asset.
