Structural steel detailer responsible for developing shop and erection drawings.
Duties/skills include:
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings (plans, sections, details)
Prepare and issue requests for information (RFI) to clarify conflicting or missing information
Prepare erecting plans to show pieces to be installed in an overall plan (3D modeling)
Prepare shop drawings to issue to shop environment for fabrication (3D modeling)
Prepare computer generated files for export into other software for further use by other departments
Ability to check other detailers’ work for quality and accuracy
Pay commensurate with experience. This is a salaried position. Working in an office environment is mandatory (no remote work). Position is a long-term career-oriented one. An engineering degree is not required but is helpful. Bachelor’s and Associate’s degreed candidates will both be considered.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years’ experience detailing structural steel, 3 years’ experience with 3D modeling, software preferred is Tekla, however SDS2 or similar is acceptable.
Competence in other software is required (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, etc.). Familiarity with steel-related codes, such as those promulgated by the American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC), American Welding Society (AWS) and the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) is helpful to begin and mandatory for further career development.
