The Civil Engineer performs professional-level engineering work in the planning and design of the City's Infrastructure; including streets, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and water systems. Assists in plan review and practices to solve existing or proposed infrastructure issues.
One exciting project the engineering department is working through is the Schoonmaker Creek Watershed Preliminary Engineering Analysis which will lead to numerous future capital improvement projects to mitigate flooding during severe storm events. We are looking to hire someone to assist with these vital drainage projects and other infrastructure improvement projects to boost the quality of life that Wauwatosa offers its residents.

•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited Institution. •A valid Driver’s License is required. •Knowledge of the principles and practices of public works design, drafting, surveying, and construction. •Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. •Experience utilizing computer-aided design software, preferably AutoCAD-Civil3D. Preferred Qualifications •Engineer-In-Training Certification •Five years related experience. •Experience in the design of municipal infrastructure, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, stormwater management facilities, water main, and roadway facilities. •Wisconsin Professional Engineer Registration •Significant experience in designing public improvements utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D in an urban environment
